EMILY AS GRAVY CHEESE FRIES

A night to ruin us

both, I knew the grease

was what I wanted

from Emily.  She just kept

outdoing herself.  I woke

up sober, still feeling

like I had shoved glory

through what was once

my tangible person.

EMILY AS A LAUNDRY BASKET FILLED WITH WATER

I wanted to suck the slosh-

ing tide of Emily through one

of the openings on the green-

sided basket, so many openings

designed to hold, to air out

the fabric in the unloading

& when I could not calm the tip-

ping, I was forced to stand

beneath the whole cascade.
